I know that conduit on wooden fence is bad practise, but where does it atually say this, and is it just bad practise or a no no?
(25mm conduit feeding a garden shed, saddles approx 1 foot above ground level)
I'm no expert, but I can't see anything wrong with it as long as the conduit is suitably supported and the circuit adequately protected. Will be interesting to see if I'm wrong.
I would say it would be fine too, but as above, I don't know every reg going so may be wrong. I have certainly seen it many times before. Make sure it is well supported as conduit seems to sag more outside, maybe due to weathering and temp changes.
What sort of wooden fence by the way ? if it's lap panels then you're not really going to have much to fix to. If it's half inch thick timber then you should be fine.
I think no wiring on fences is an NICEIC idea since the fence will not last the length of time that the wiring system is designed to last (30 years or so!), however so long as the fence is supporting the conduit then there should be no problem, remember to let the neighbours know not to paslode the other side of the fence!
