Can anyone tell me where to find distance between Gas box and Electric box on caravan site I know it’s 600mm, now on new install someone’s connected the boxes now between the edge of gas to edge of electric box is around 630mm but this isn’t taking in to account a socket which will be plugged in which when plugged in won’t be 600mm apart and no slack on cables to move

section 708 relates to electrical installations in caravan parks.
also section 721
I can see no reference to this 600mm rule you mention.

I’ve heard it before from fellow sparks but I can’t see it within regs book

Ask the next one who tells you to quote a reg no.
most of these things turn out to be either non existent or were in an old regs book and not in the new one.

No regs as far as I recall.
Is it bottled gas or a piped meter box?

Only distance specified I believe is height of hook up box from the ground

Piped meter box, I know to our box socket is 0.5m to 1.5m from finished ground

you are correct on the height,
has someone picked you up on this 600mm and said its not correct?

I have had customers who have picked fault with installations in the past because there friend who is an "electrician" has told them its wrong.

not yet had one where the friend is willing to either meet me on site to discuss there concerns or send me a picture and quote a reg. number to back up the claim.
one day maybe?

I'm not perfect but I try to be Flawless.

Just something someone’s told me but can’t show me a regs number, I told him the gas and electric are ran in the same trench anyway so I can’t see much difference but didn’t know if anyone else knew as couldn’t see it in regs book and yes I agree with what you say
Thanks for the input

There are a few on here that are like walking talking versions of BS7671
if there is any truth to the elusive 600mm then one of them will post a magic number to look up.

There is (or was in 2011) a gas reg BS 6891:2005+A2:2008 Installation of low pressure gas pipework in domestic premises, clause 8.16.2 which states distances of 150mm from electricity meters etc. Maybe a good place to start looking

Would the 600mm rule be on Gas Act? Rather than BS7671. O remember asking a similar question a few weeks back and Tel pointedme on that direction

***Edit; see mhar post above
