Can anyone tell me if it is a regulation required to apply diversity when designing a cooker circuit?

Before anyone asks I start my 17th edition course in September.

There is no specific regulation regarding diversity and cooker circuits, they are in the on site guide appendix A

The only mention of diversity in the regulations is Chapter 31 Reg 311.1

it says you CAN apply diversity...not that you MUST....as long as the Ib is less than the In....and the Iz is equal or greater than the In....then its good to go

yes .........................to be honest I doubt if there is a single installation in the UK that is not designed with a degree of diversity involved ...............well any proper installation will be

I agree with camelchops

if diversity were not used then every house would need a 300amp supply!

Diversity is not an exact science, however. It is something that is done as part of the design of an installation and it's up to the designer to use his experience to make the appropriate allowances.
The diversity figures in the On Site Guide are a good starting point, but please note the word GUIDE!!
