Is that shiny thing the snapped off bolt? Bit of a clean-up required and you might stand a chance of not getting the chisel out.
 
Looks like the cable is not attached to the rod, cable on one side, lug on the other?

What's the RA like, just out of curiosity I'll take a guess at 116 ohms.

I wouldn't bother digging it out, I would just screw a new top lid on it.

Such a shame about the missing trim - really takes the shine off that job.

There are two things that spoilt the job one is not painting over the wires and the other is not using led lamps otherwise a top effort.
