Flashing LED Floodlights

Bit of a random one.

A commercial yard down the road from me has installed 4 floodlights, they appear to switched by a dawn to dusk sensor.

Every 5 second they flash off then on again for 5 seconds then flash off then on again for 5 seconds ad infinitum.

Any ideas what could cause this?

I'm not able to access the site, just an observer.

Are the floods also illuminating the sensor.

Sensor sees dark, lights come on, sensor sees light (from floodlight), lights go off,, repeat.

I did think that but it only blinks off for around half a second then back on for 5 seconds. Any photocells I've come across haven't responded that quickly. Or that regularly. It's the same all night.

Agreed about the response, so in that case it's either a faulty Sensor or it's not suited to LED, if that's what the floods are, or it's overloaded.

sounds like a dodgy sensor

Last night they didn't come on, so I'm guessing whatever was causing the flashing has given up the ghost. Or they've had enough of neighbours complaining and turned them off.
