We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

It's the gloves a rubber pair with the leather pair on top which are bad enough in cool weather.

I wish it was all like that. The 14 hour days don't get talked about as I'm usually too knackered when I get back to the hotel. The money at the end of the month makes it worth it though 🤑

and the odd baked delicacy from Scotland

Oh! not battered deep fried Mars bars again. 🙄

Since when was a deep fried anything "baked"?

I'm on about these...

Th raspberry and pineapple ones are the best. Just booked 3 weeks holiday in Scottyland next summer. 2 weeks near Ullapool and 1 week in Tomich near Cannich. There's an Australian run Spar in Cannich that do nice kangaroo pies.

I bet it’s not real ‘roo

It’ll be a mix of local meats, and just advertised as “kangaroo”…. I mean… what’s the delivery cost for a start?

Next time you’re round my neck of the woods, the butchers next to my daughters does crème egg scotch eggs…. None of your deep fried mars bar rubbish here.

Roo is reasonably easy to get hold of. There was a butcher in our local indoor market used to sell it along with assorted other exotic dead animals but he gave up as it was a bit too unusual for the Welsh valley customers. Don't know if they still do but 'The Food Warehouse' or Iceland as it's better known used to sell 'roo, ostrich, alligator meat.

or so they tell you.....

could be badger roadkill for all we know

Oooohhhhh......badger. That's a tempting thought.
I'm hoping so see some wild haggis next time up up your way. I hope you are a regular on the haggis wildlife foundation web site.

There’s nothing worse at a weekend than spending Saturday night at A&E.

Youngest went over on her ankle again… sprained again….

This is the girl that, as a child, jumped around doing highland dancing and gymnastics and never had an injury… Now she’s left school, she first fell down stairs at a uni open day, and now tripped over a door running to get into a selfie at a party. (So only the recent one was alcohol fueled)

Sitting for 4 hours, with a 45 minute drive both ways…. All sorts of people coming and going… including

Moany old woman tutting and mumbling about waiting so long… nurses standing about doing nothing….old bat.

Rugby player, still in kit, with head bandage….

Little girl having her arm plastered…

6 or 7 nurses being called into a room… followed by the gas and air cylinder on a trolley. I’ve seen enough medical documentaries to know that’s going to be a bone realignment.

And an ambulance paramedic dropping off, but ending up with a bleeding nose herself….

Doctors orders are to keep it moving, but don’t put weight on it. Elevated, compressed, take painkillers, avoid alcohol.
That’s her off work until next weekend, and there’s supposed to be another party that I don’t think she’ll be going to.

Part II
The middle daughter.

New flat, and i told her to buy a new sofa... then you know itll be clean, the colour you want... and someone will deliver, carry upstairs and build where you want it.

Oh no... Wednesday last week she sees an armchair and a sofabed on facebook... "Its free!" I dont care if its free.... i dont know if its going to fit!
She wins. If i can get it in the van, im sure it'll go up the stairs.
The armchair got up the stairs.... got stuck at the top trying to get through a door.... went back down the stairs, took the feet off... back up... just squeezed through.

Now for the sofabed. Weight-wise... itll be much easier to move if i take the bed part out... The spring loaded bed part! Although i did manage to unbolt it from the frame, lift it out, hold it all together and take it upstairs without it straightening out. We are now left with the frame, without the solid bit inside holding it all together. Theres the back, the arms and a front bar.... Not much strength to it now with an open middle.
Feet off first.. i know whats coming now. It just slides through the front door, up the stairs and the same squeeze through.

Theyre in! With a lot less cursing than i thought, but quite a lot of exertion on my part

Now i realise her carpet, wall and sofa are just various shades of beige. She will soon cover it in cushions and whatever.

I've got all that to come. The daughters house is still 'a work in progress' but at least they have got a floor upstairs now. Electrics are next. I'm hoping she'll move out some time in the next 10 years.

It'll be just a couple of miles for me this week. Drove from home to Basildon last night. Got to do today's job then up to Spalding for the night. Tomorrow at Spalding then off to Sheffield for the night. Wednesday at Sheffield then drive to Runcorn job for Thursday. After Runcorn I drive back home Thursday evening. Friday sat down doing reports. Sat and Sunday off 😀
Only 333 days until next summers holiday, not that I'm counting.

Part III, the eldest.
I realise I should have posted this at the weekend, but hey ho.

She’s had a full year now of teaching English in Seoul S. Korea, and has been accepted to stay another year at the same school.
To celebrate, her and a colleague took a weeks holiday to Japan…

You’ve heard of “Disney” World…. Then this must be “Super Mario World” World….

Used to do a lot of retail work and the Christmas stock turned up around July and normally put out September, depressing

And to think I was moaning when I saw Halloween stuff in Poundland today.

Saw the Halloween stuff in B&M last week when I was in… but Xmas???

Granted, it was just one aisle, with selection boxes and some mug-and-hot chocolate type gift boxes.

Possibly last years stock

We’ve always had Halloween…. We just didn’t have “trick or treat”

We went “guising” instead. Which is nothing to do with Guy Fawkes… it’s short for disguising. To dress up.

Guy Fawkes. When we celebrate a failed attempt to blow up Westminster.

Does nobody “bob for apples” nowadays…
(Or “dookin’ for apples” round here)

I'd never heard of Halloween when I was a lad. Quite simply didn't exist around here. Oldest offspring is now 35, and I seem to remember a bit of turnip carving going on , but nothing more.

No I'd never heard of Halloween as a kid nor Father's Day.

It was dunking for apples around here. Haven't seen or heard of it since I was a kid

Halloween is a USA invention as they do not have a Fireworks Night who would have thought we would celebrate an attempt to kill our King, the original intention I believe.

Trick or treating is a USA invention.

Halloween goes back centuries, possibly to pagen times and has roots in Christianity just like Christmas and Easter.
Shakespeare even mentions a lantern made from a hollowed out turnip on All Hallows Eve…. the pumpkin being the American import.

So Halloween was being celebrated before America was even founded…. Just without the plastic devil horns and Scream masks.

Pagen, Celtic, Germanic….. no matter. Still older that America.

We should take care that their 4th of July celebrations don’t start over here 🤪😏

Just got to my diabetic retinopathy appointment. They put drops in my eyes that dilate the pupils then take photos of my eyes. The problem is the drops don't wear off for hours and it's a sunny day. My eyesight will be sh1te for hours 🤢

Wedding anniversary last week, and now we’ve hardly any kids in the house, we went out to something called a “gig”

Last time we saw live music that wasn’t a school theatre show would have been T in The Park, 1997

So, from about 2pm when the gates opened, we saw 6 support acts, and the headliners, Del Amitri…
The venue, was the North lawn at Floors Castle. And if you don’t know it, it was filmed as Tarzans ancestral home in the Greystoke, Legend of Tarzan film from about 1984.

Trying to work up the enthusiasm to drain down my CH and put a couple of new ball valves on either side of the CH zone valve, needs doing as it seems to be by-passing, it's been in a long time and probably the rubber ball is worn, I may try to freeze the pipe's first, have a kit, this time I will make sure the pump is off first and can't come on half way through the procedure. 🙄

I have no idea who Del Amitri are?

I'm in Somerset for the day. M5 was suprisingly quiet. Probably stay until 6ish then head back to WW3. Our son has been down here for 4 weeks and the wife has done some tidying in his bedroom so he'll kick off when he sees it.
I've heard of Del Amitri but know bugger all by him/them.

Well you are one up on me having heard of them, but glad I am not alone knowing nothing about them.
