We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

Happy birthday for yesterday. Nice to see there's still some youngsters on here.
Cheers.

I think the last time I had candles was my 40th….

Word of advice…. Don’t light that many in a small touring caravan.

Bit of an up and down day today.

Wife had a job interview which seemed to go ok, but will know tonight if she got it…. Youngest failed her driving test… after a few nervous lessons with me… and we’re still waiting on getting the keys for the middle ones flat.

On a positive note, I’ve got this to build, and somehow add a light kit….

And will be tucking into these….

Little update.

Middle daughter was at the shop this morning before work, in the WHITE kia picanto... As she reversed out the parking space, some loon comes tearing along the road in his RED car.... stops right behind her... which makes her stop, and go back into her space. He parks up, then comes along and accuses her of driving into him. Kicking off about white paint scratch on his red car.

She's adamant she didn't hit him, getting upset as he's effing and blinding (in the middle of town at 7:30 in the morning).... Not a mark on her car (red, or otherwise)

An elderly gent comes along and tells crazy man to wind his neck in... he saw everything and in no way even touched his car. Tells my daughter just to get to work...... and really tells the other guy off for upsetting "the young lass"

See... not all older gentlemen are miserable sods.

Spent the day disconnecting and IR'ing some cast resin transformers today. Did a little bit of unexpected 'ship spotting' too.

Sod all on telly but football and tennis…. So I’m sitting watching the entire Live Aid concert.

Can’t believe it’s been 40 years. I think I remember staying up and watching, aged 11

We've been watching that going to record the end. I was 20 my better half 19 where did it all go, sitting here saying they're dead, he's dead Jesus the passage of time.
If you met my girlfriend you wouldn't believe the concerts she went to as a teen, Queen three times, AC/DC, Whitesnake to name a few and Motorhead which left her deaf for nearly a week!

You're 60, your lady is 59. You are both soo young!! As long as you have your health, which I really hope you both do, you have another 10 years (at least), maybe 15 of doing crazy stuff. I have just got back into walking (bear with me, as that doesn't sound too crazy). I walk into the middle of Dartmoor, as far from roads and human stuff as possible, then camp by a stream/river for the night. It is very cathartic. last time, I was pitched up, it was just getting dark, and a family of horses quietly walked up (including 2 very young foals). They hardly acknowledged me, drank, and slowly wandered off. So peaceful.

However, at other times, like this exact moment, I am sat in my comfy chair, sipping fresh coffee and either playing on-line chess or chatting to you lot, whilst wondering what to cook for dinner. Not so crazy.

Started doing some work on a really run down house that a lady had bought, attempting to get it up to a standard that would be liveable.

The elderly person who was there before was obviously a very keen electrical diyer after 2 days there I had removed the inverter etc and a load of lead acid batteries.

I started putting down lights in the kitchen area and main room, but stopped work as the whole house needed rewiring, I've never seen anything so badly done and rodent damaged.

This was on a Wednesday and I couldn't go back there until the Tuesday due to other commitments.
Turned up on the Tuesday morning to find this.

Lost about a £1000 in tools that i had left there along with a £300 consumer unit and a few new 100mtr drums of cable.

No insurance on the house and no insurance for my gear.

I disconnected the supply before I left, so it was just the cutout, meter, and Henley blocks.
Investigators said the fire started in the centre of the property under the floor, for which the only access to was from outside and the only door which wasn't locked.

There was no electric, gas or oil supply.

Fire people have done a report and have also been around looking for cctv, but nothing heard so far.

The only comfort is that I got £90 for the batteries. :)

Late to the show, but the boss of McGhee's was my neighbour for many years. I alwayd bought his rolls and as my daughter was friends with his two we often slagged him off about the missing apostrophe on some of the packaging.
However...to today...and what did I do this morning?
I got on an early morning flight to Spain and for once my next seat passenger was a beautiful lady who was chatty and exuberant and charming...
She was very impressed when I knew who she was too...she is the daughter of Pete Ham...and I immediately started singing Badfinger's best hit.
If you know, you know...
What a lovely lady!

That post went straight over my head, no idea who Peter whatever is or the group Badfinger, but glad you had a beautiful companion on your flight, I have just come back from Iceland and sat next to what looked like an all in wrestler with a blonde pony tail.

Below is the reason I want to Iceland and no they are not available on the high street.

Morning all. Glad it isnt as hot as it has been!

Boooo on the refresher course but well done for taking part mate it might be needed one day.

Saturday, I was at a day party. Had every intention of going home at 5…. Stayed til late.

It was a “goodbye school, hello summer” party for the kids that were leaving school… with parents invited too. It’s a customer house, so I got the praise heaped on me for fixing the lawnmower…

Weather was raining, but they had a marquee up, and a bar… and it’s walking distance home.

Later in the day, the boyfriend of the daughter of the house took over the Bluetooth speaker… during his “eclectic” playlist he plays “more more more”…. And then announces he loves billy joel….

All the dads at one table, including me… look at each other, then, in unison, all shout out “it’s Billy IDOL)

View from the top of the bank of the River Ranga where I caught my biggest Salmon to date, shown above, scenery is spectacular, but the smell of Sulpha does make you look funny at anyone standing near by. Volcano in the background is the Helka the one that closed most international flights some years ago.

Daughter got the keys to her flat yesterday. At long last. 19 years old and on the property ladder.

I’ve been in today, modernising a few bits and pieces… not found a square wall yet.

I have found a switch that’s going to be impossible to change….

And the previous owners spare bulb box….

All filament.

The fridge, freezer and washing machine were still there… which was a bonus.

Morning all, working on ads today. Found an ad in threads that was loading for subscribed and then activating auto ads on the rest of the whole page.

Going to turn off page fill and manually add what usually works then come back to it in a few days after checking stats and stuff.

Van is in for a service, so I’m just in local jobs in a little hatchback.

Dropped everything off on site on Friday, so I’m busy upgrading the heating in a local church…
Now, Rointe are supposed to be one of the best… very popular choice around here anyway… Claims to be energy efficient, save the planet and all that… but still use polystyrene packaging…??

Also noticed this little detail.

You think they would notice these things.

Only on the 330W. All the other sizes I’ve got are right

After 2 weeks relaxing at our place in Somerset it'll be a drive back home this afternoon. Back to work tomorrow morning. 2 days on the Isle of Grain then up to Norfolk for 2 days ☹️

Not sure which is worse Isle of Grain or Isle of Sheppey? 🤔

Both are sh1te holes. The 'beach' on Grain is nothing to write home about. Never been to a beach on Sheppy, only worked at a large solar farm there. There's a nice shipwreck just off the coast that would be nice to throw rocks at if you fancy blowing the island up.

Montgomery if my memory serves?

That's the boy. I wonder if they will ever do anything about it.

They can’t do much.
It’s been surveyed a few times, every time they note it’s getting worse and parts may collapse in on itself.
However even removing the mast is seen as too dangerous to attempt.

I'm glad I don't live on Sheppy. It's a bit of a terrorist target though. Having said that if it blew Sheppey off the planet it would probably do the UK a favour 🤣

Removing the mast will make navigation difficult, it's deemed better to leave it so it is obvious where it is, the explosives are surveyed at least twice a year, but as it's mostly glass vials of Nitro it's not seen as deteriorating.

Well, today's drive took longer than expected. Signs were on saying M4 was closed between 13 and 12. There were huge queues at the Hungerford exit as everyone was trying to divert. I thought I would risk the M4 and got stuck in a 3 mile holdup but the motorway had reopened. Drive took me over 5 hours but I got there. Job took about 1 1/2 hours in transformer enclosures with the temperature in the mid 30s which, when you are wearing thick overalls, hard hat, earmuffs and gloves, is not fun. Tomorrow job is outdoors so hopefully a bit cooler then a drive up to Norfolk.

Do you have to wear flameproof PPE?
