Handy little adapter - comments please!

Another New Year post. Not a video this time!
A really useful bit of old kit for 'old boys' like me... Used by me as a child and still useful at times this year. Is it legal or not? Starter for 10 points...
Q1/. would it still be legal if it had never been unplugged?
Q2/. Is is legal to use it / them now? For double insulated appliances...

I have one of these for plugging in my iron into the lighting circuit!

And a bayonet splitter, so I can continue to use the lamp whilst ironing.

I remember them.
They were 1950's Smart Technology. (may have been earlier but I was born in the 50's)
Power anywhere in the room without trailing leads across the floor.

I've just rewired a house and one of the things I found was the use of one of those. In total it was supplying the under cabinet lights and cooker hood fan!

It was only twenty odd years ago when my mum got rid of hers. Only because the iron finally went pop due to the cotton insulation on the flex wearing out...

I remember those too , also the round two pin plugs that the pins slid in to trap the wires . I still remember the smell of my first Hornby train set..

I remember those, me mam taking the parlour light bulb out and plugging the iron in.
BS52, good enough for me, but it has been replaced 6 times so far ...

I remember these at my late grandmother's house, they were often used with a 2-way BC adaptor, so you could use the light and an appliance together (the link is to images on JW's site)

Clix made those, I'm sure I have some here somewhere.
I also have an adaptor that allows a bayonet plug to connect to a 2 pin socket outlet.

Sorry mate but that's the worst rewiring I've ever seen......

I remember those from way back, usually in rentals for lodgers.
