To the OP. If your part p registered how did you pass the assessment? Testing is one of the main requirements and especially understanding the results. If you did pass it and are a domestic installer this still doesn't make you a qualified electrician. I should of put the last bit in pet hates.

When Mars is closest to the Earth, it takes light three minutes to travel between the two planets. If you asked a question to an astronaut on Mars, you'd have to wait at least six minutes for an answer, and Mars is usually a lot farther away than that.

just noticed the screen name is rhyme for silly ******

in the sequence of tests before the supply ois connected it doesnt state rcd testing comes first
i continutiy oc protective conductors
2continuity of ring
3ir
4pol
5 earth electrode

I'm surprised your RCD even stays on with line and neutral to earth readings as low as that!!.

who said it came first andy? the fact you gave a 0.2 reading was why we asked what the real readings were, now we know what 0.2 has to do with a TT system, but 1 do you? and 2 what has your IR readings mean to you?

one of the posters in this topic stated i shouldnt be doing anything if i havent done rcd tests

If your insulation tests are poor it is little wonder you aint done any RCD testing. Anyway you originally said you had done RCD testing and you got 0.2 whatever you claim that is supposed to signify!

No we asked you to confirm your RCD readings before we would give you any help andy as the reading you gave was at best confusing and you got the 0.2 mixed up from something else to do with them??

this is on a lighting circuit with a low voltage transformer connected if that makes any diffrence

think OP has had too much beer with female hormones in it. after a skinful, you undergo a sex change.

1. you argue about nothing. 2. you talk a load of irrational crap. 3. you can't drive. 4. you cry for no reason. 5. you can't see past the end of your nose.

sounds like your trying to come out without actually admitting it, oh and you forgot the bit about being unable to reverse

Forget about the RCD anyway. First up you need to determine if you have installed a low voltage light 230v or an Extra low voltage light 12v. Do you really have an earth connection or not.
Secondly with insulation resistance results like you claim to have i would definately be looking further into the circuit with regards to its condition and suitability to be adding a light and fan onto it in the first place.

Spot on mate!! :D

it has a 12v transformer which does not have a seperate earth to connect to the lighting circuit

you only IR test to the primary side of the transformer, or, as transformers for this situation are generally class2, to wherever the cpc of the circuit is terminated. ( for details of termination, ask arnold )

i have done ir tests at the consumer unut with power off, all lamps removed and all switches on/closed. i did not remove the earth or neutral for the connection bars in the consumer unit when i done tests.

So it isn't a low voltage light then. Seriously mate you really need to stop NOW before you end up hurting either yourself or somebody else!
Get somebody qualified to get this sorted. You are working within a special location which requires correct protective measures. You have nothing correct not even a healthy circuit to connect to so stop the nonsense and do the decent thing.....CALL A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN!!

Are the values in the OP ohms on continuity?

Not IR at all.

Don't know why I'm bothering.
