Hi guys

New to site, need a problem solved. Had a call a few months ago to a large house. Lady wanted to install a electric kiln in her garage. Details were full load 51 amps, with a 60 amp fuse. I looked at incoming supply head and it was 100amps. Done a load test with all appliances on etc. , got a reading of 30amps. So i thought yes no probs and installed new supply. Kiln worked untill call to say all electrics had blown ? Oh dear. Had a look at supply fuse and it was 60amp not 100amp as stated on carrier. Now have problem with loadings. Question is, should the supply fuse be 100amp or do the supply authority have right to put in any fuse regardless of what it says on the carrier. Please help what do I do.

If the cutout was damaged and reported as unsafe

in some way then they will come out the same day and fit a nice new 100A unit free of charge no questions asked.

Agreed.

But, the carriers are marked as 100A but that is normally the rating and not necessarily whats inside.

Totally agree as in Distribution Boards with fuse carriers it may say 32A on the carrier which is the max you can have on it but only have 6A fuse in it.

Old saying I heard it may say India on the side of a London bus but it doesn't mean it goes there.
