Lots of apologies from me too!! a few drinks and my fingers turn into trotters! If the cables are running through the wall, I can't see a problem (squeeze some firestop sealant around the hole etc. Cables have to get from one room to another some how. BUTrunning cables into a cavity and then using the cavity to move their reappearance position is a no no. Strain on cable being the most obvious as it could be more than 400(?) mm without being supported. I have however to get a cable to reappear not directly opposite the entrance hole have drilled at an angle; NB not sure if this is strictly Kosher would be interested to read other opinions

Running 25mm tails up a cavity from a meter cabinet into the back of a consumer unit which is slightly higher up isn't much of an issue regarding being supported. The support is provided at the entry points into the consumer unit and meter cabinet.
Maximum length should be 3 metres and ideally be able to be isolated by an 80amp double-pole switch installed within the cabinet.
