When working on an installation with mixed wiring is it adviable to sleeve the conductors if two differant colours are present at the same accessory or is it ok to just place a mixed wiring notification at the db?
 
very early eightees I was assisting a spark who was rewiring houses with white wires in the 3 cores, the installations could have been 30 years old I suppose so I suspect the cables went in during the 50s
 
Sorry to jump in the thread, but we've been inspecting and testing a hotel today and it had all lighting feeds in a cloth, woven cable with no earth. I'm intrigued as to what this cable is called and what ages these could be?
 
Like all changes,getting used to a yellow core instead of the white took time
The cable colours have changed quite often and usually the colours you get to know initially are the ones that are fondly remembered

around 1940`s, cloth over indian rubber, were always run surface
