Another article on late payers that is going to change very little as long as main contractors continue in the the payment chain and are using domestic sub contractors. Years ago when a lot of jobs were done using nominated sub contractors the sub contractor had a bit of clout as the client didn't like being told that the main contractor was holding onto the money

The "late" payers issue comes down to UK accounting standards and financial reporting.

Large companies report on "cash" in the bank when they issue financial statements - which is very misleading if they owe more than they have - what the Government needs to do is get them to report on cash in bank AND monies overdue to suppliers!

Big companys pay when they want to pay you. That's what I have found its sickening

Me too. The bigger, the worse, generally. Although the record holder is an individual who I thought was sound, has paid everything over 5 years on time but the last bill (£180) was due beginning of october. Still to be paid. Latest is I'll get it the 28th feb!

are there limits for debt collectors? As in, not worth it for that amount?

I always sued when I was a contractor.

Sued a lawyer for a couple of hundred pounds, won the case.

Sued a police sarge and his pc wife for £56. They didnt believe I would and they tried to represent themselves in court, they got savaged. They had to pay me,plus interest, my lawyers bill and my expenses for the day.

All this was in the mid 80s.

My theory at the time, and still is, is that the next guy wont get ripped off by people that wont accept that they need to pay. Sometimes you will be the next guy.
