What about a 24 gang grid with multiple circuits connected in it ? Is that whole grid one point per connected circuit, or just one point for one of the circuits, or the total number of grid switches per circuit, or..... ?

:D

How many people actually bother filling this out? Its not in the forms in the BYB

Just saying

It is part of the information required by 514.9

Size and number of conductors, points served, type of wiring. That's why those items are inserted into most inspection schedules.

But no, I never list number of points personally.

But strangely absent from the model form on page 434

Yes. I think the info in 514.9 is intended to be included in handover packs or permanent records in larger and more complex installations. The reg does say in simple installations in can be in the form of a schedule, a copy of which must be appended to the DB.

With no reference to the sample form on page 434

Another senseless contribution from the IET...

Sometimes it is recorded separately from the schedule of test results, sometimes included within. It's been a requirement since at least the 16th that I know of.

One good reason to put the number of points is to ensure if anyone adds anything you have a record to show that.

^^ thats easy on a new install, not so easy on a CU change........

I did a CU change a while back and the property is now being tidied up..... there are quite a few sockets that were concealed...... behind built in cupboards, behind very large units........ its not always possible to count them all!

Perhaps put not veried n/v instead and a note on the eic

About the only use counting the number of points serves, is so if your totals don't add up you know you missed something.

To me a 2g socket is a 2pts.
It's a bit of a farce really, entering the number of pts, especially on a Pit.or eicr, how do you definetly know all the pts, items can be hidden behind stuff, counting can be a nightmare too.
Surprised most don't do it,maybe I should too.
