hiya, hope someone can help.

having just bought a 2nd hand tester am beginning to wonder if i was ripped off.

everytime i plug my Megger RCDT320 tester in it automatically trips the RCD. This even happens when the RCD tester is turned off.

any suggestions?

Have you tried just plugging in the lead when it is not connected to the meter?? Hopefully if there is a fault it will be with the lead which should be far cheaper to resolve.

If it is the meter, give Megger a call on 01304 50210, I had a faulty 1553 last year that was out of warranty but they told me to send it for calibration and they would give me a quote for repair. However they fixed it at no extra charge.

Let us know how you get on!

Remember you should have a 3 yr warranty on that device so unless you know it's older than that check the serial number which includes a date stamp of manufacture. I believe Megger will honour the warranty evn if you bought it second hand, though I haven't confirmed this.
