Hi all,

DIYer here. My garage has a double socket fed by 4mm2 twin and earth connected to the same circuit breaker has the ring main for the sockets upstairs in the house. The MCB is a B32.

Is the feed in the garage considered a spur from the ring main or is it a separate radial circuit which happens to be on the same MCB? Ideally I'd like to add more sockets to the circuit in the garage (using 4mm2) but is this safe or allowed?

Thanks.

Ah yeah, bloody hell lol, thanks mate, I have been searching for post numbers since I was allowed back on haha, this software is different that I have seen before, cheers fella

Regarding whether the ring is 2.5 or 4.0, the best I can do is show pictures of the cables existing the consumer unit. The two thinner cables are lighting for the garage,

yep. need to contact percy the painter before the peeling paint gives you and your family cancer or chronic asbesto brick dust disease.

That's a bit rough, standard 20mm open grommets on the top of the enclosure = non compliant. It's not a major thing IMO but it indicates an attitude to the work that makes me wonder what else isn't great about the installation.

Were there any thoughts on whether the cabling was 2.5 or 4.0 based on pictures? Or too difficult to tell?

How about measuring the one you think is 4mm, it might give us a better idea. Does it not state the cable size on the cable?
