Hi

im not to clued up on downlights but have changed the whole house to led every spot light in the house is gu10 which is great but in my bathroom 5 are GU10 an the shower extractor is MR16 the problem is she wants them to dim - just wondering what I do next do they even do a gu10 extractor downlight - what is the best thing to do?

Manufacturers tend to go for the 12V option for shower/ extractor lights as you are pulling wet air past the lamp and dripping water could be a problem.
However in your case there is no reason not to fit a dimmable LED driver in place of the existing transformer, the worst problem will be getting a matching colour of LED. (oh yes and trying to disentangle the transformer from the fitting in some cases)

Thanks for your reply - yeah I thought so I have managed to find one at same colour and yeah I understand I have to change the tranny what I'm wondering what would it be like to dim with the rest would it be totally different and look to out of place?

Dimmable GU10s and dimmable LED drivers are likely to use similar technology to allow dimming, the electronics in the GU10 may be a little more simple but i would expect that if you get the Gu10s dimming OK then the driver should follow that, I would limit the dimming range as much as you feel you can as it will be at the extremes that things would start to go out of synch.
