I was already registered with them and I didn't know , I think its through the Screwfix account , But it says you can go pro if you fill out the questionnaire about insurance and so on , to get work , I will do it tomorrow and see what comes of it ,, I didn't even know I was on there ,,,, Cheers Glen,,,,

We'll have a website similar to mybuilder / checkatrade / jobsorted that will be totally free to use by the end of 2014 or early 2015. And it'll be good too. The focus on it will be geared towards checking qualifications and skillset of tradesmen, and not just going for the cheapest, and it wont have jack of all trades on it. And it'll have a large advice section for homeowners to use and read to ensure the tradesmen they're getting are right for their job, and not just 'cheap'.

It's what has been missing since all these cropped up and I've been waiting for one to launch so I could advertise it on our forums and whatnot but one hasn't yet so sod it, I've got one being built off and on.

Obviously more important things to sort out first WINK WINK (let's not shout about it eh)

One of my clients said to me the other day that all the "rated/trusted/etc etc sites" can't be trusted and the only way now is to find a very local trades person and/or get a personal recommendation.

HALLELUJAH...PRAISE THE LORD!!

at last someone see`s wisdom

so is this the chink in the armour we are all looking for?...

Well.... as somebody who likes working close to home and not giving money to "websites" (except my own) then I think I agree with you! lol
well (and i know it sounds a bit old fashioned) local trades served the communities they lived in...i know its quaint but if there was more of just general folk who wanted quality work carrying out then they would go local....as this also serves the local economy as well...

theres nothing wrong with travelling into other areas..thats the way its been for years and i`m not parochial in any way..

but what i`m trying to say is that there really is no place for the likes of `rated people`...

they DO NOT OFFER ANYTHING...nothing at all..

Fantastic idea , The sooner the free , skills based websites takeover the better , and hopefully then see these other websites slowly diminish , that would be a good day indeed,,

your welcome Ray..

The thing is, if you do a good job, turn up when you promise, are tidy/polite and return if asked, then the world's your oyster - but so many muppets don't realise this and think each new customer is a chance to rip somebody off.....

I've got a couple of millionaires as customers and they get charged the same rate as everyone else.

That really is a nice thought and I hope you're right, but what happened to local shops, Post Offices, Milkmen etc.
