Passed my annual assessment today. Assessor was impressed with my drip loop and the belt and braces approach of installing the socket on a slant to allow any water to drain out.👌🏻😇

Nice at least the shower head is pointing away from the socket! 😀

That is rough, I would have expected to see some mini trunking on an installation like that.

Rough as, I would have used white flex
Didn’t have any left on the van. It was T&E, black H07 or SWA. Considered SWA but thought they’d hang their shower gel off it. So went with the T&E.

Wouldn’t stick to the tiles and I ran out of screws.

Had to fix the socket in place with a couple of clout nails.

Actually thinking about it...

The biggest sin is that fact you didn't make a 'How To' YouTube video showing how you connected this shower up
I’ve got a face for radio! 😂

Nobody in their right mind would use that shower.
No shampoo and that doesn't look like Camay soap.

Great job. Only minor improvement I would suggest is maybe a light, but then again you could always set a lamp on the shower and plug it in.

Box, what box. Its just a hole chopped in the wall with a bit of wood behind to screw the face -plate to
You‘ve obviously found some of my other work. 🤪

Yeah landlord meter, that top picture of the fuseboard is the correct orientation just the board isn't 🙃

Not exactly a dodgy trade pic but at a small job yesterday noticed the doors on the CU cupboard just inside the front door - why would anyone bother ?!! The current owners have lived there for 3 years and never spotted it ! :)

I wonder how much time was spent with what's behind them.

Not much I'd say, a cheapo RCD Main Switch board wired by a baboon by the looks of it. :) But it's being changed soon.

My father made a Charles Rennie Mackintosh style cover for the gas meter so it looked better. Retired...

joints amongst that lot not needed.

Found this today during an EICR. At least they earthed the back box….. 🙄

On another ring I had a break in continuity L-L. Narrowed it down to between 2 sockets in different rooms. Between each of the rooms was a bathroom.

A little investigation and found an old wall heater junction box.

Funny enough when I took the tape off and placed them into Wago’s the ring continuity was restored.

Did you connect the cpcs to the back box so it is earthed.

Replaced the socket front and earthed both socket and back box. I also did the old heater point now junction box one too.

There is an argument that the socket is earthed if one of its screw fixing is into a fixed lug in a metal back box, as long as the back box is earthed.

I’ve heard that argument. But for the sake of a socket front that costs £4 I can’t understand why they didn’t just replace the socket front. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have a slack handful of different terminal screws that I keep. But none of them would fit this socket for some reason. So I just replaced the front.
