Hi Guys,

Had a call from LOM Maintenance, in Southend, they do call out work accross the country.
They seemed proffessional, but they do not pay!! I only did two jobs, but as i'm cautious and busy, i waited and got plenty of calls, but was unable to help.
When i spoke to the call centre last, and said no work till i get paid. No more calls, no more work.

Anyone else had dealings with them??

They have a sponsored link on various search engines where a customer will click on the link and contact them in regard to their plumbing or electrical fault, they immediately ask the customer for their credit card details before attending to the fault, they charge £86 per hour.

They will then ring around the local tradesman in the area, asking if they subcontract and would you mind attending this callout.

The tradesman will then attend and fix the fault, contacting LOM when the job is complete.

Once a tradesman attends their job, they offer them other work which can be further away, they do not pay travel time, only the hour that you have taken to fix the job, the tradesman then attends and fixes these faults at the end of the week submitting their invoices

The emphasis is on the tradesman to chase up getting paid, you will then be spending another hour sending e-mails and ringing them - You will have a very difficult time in trying to get them to pay.

They then went into liquidation - knowing that the tradesman will not pursue them through the courts.

Re-establishing themselves later ...and the whole story goes round in a loop again!

Plural of ball! Have I just been had or what? I can't get any response from their accounts person "sue" by email nor can I get their accounts to answer the phone.

Take the family to the seaside for the day at Southend-on-Mud, While you leave the family at the beach for a fun day out, pop in to the LOM's office, i'm sure they will be very pleased to see you!! lol!!

sticky wicket. the end user has paid LOM for those materials and so they legally belong to him. your dispute is with LOM. i can lend you a hammer and/or shotgun.

Unfortunately, you have been had, after not paying for me to attend 2 * jobs, they still have the cheek to ring me and ask me to attend other jobs - I told them where to go.

They advertise to use electricians from Compedent person schemes and list these schemes, not only giving you a bad reputation as you will be associated with the high prices they charge, but also your compedent person scheme

Perhaps these compendent person schemes should do what we all pay them to do, and contact LOM Maintenance and asked for their association with them to be removed.

you need to set up a small claims its cheap and easy and can be done online, it all get logged against them even if it comes to nothing and sooner or later trading standards steps in

Bonus, this thread appears on google page 2, when you type in LOM Maintenance.
How do we get to page 1, so their prospective customers can see this???

They are listed on the NICEIC Wall of Shame.

I must be one of the lucky ones I think. I carried out a call out for this company & did get paid, admittidly I did have to chase them up with a phone call 2 months later & it was only for a small amount of around about £50

I dont think I will be doing any more for them though. I steer clear of all these companies now, just aint worth it

Did 2 jobs in Jan and Feb 2013 have phoned about 20 times and emailed Sue about the same amount of times she promises payment - never comes now nearly six months - they phoned last week to pass me a job - really !!!!!!!!!they have a freephone number which I have passed to my family we will all call them several times a day till I get payment 0800 121 6002 their sales guy Andrew answers the phone now he hangs up on me. Steer well clear.

I have a small pest control company, they owe me nearly £600, they lie about paying. director called Lawrence. At present they have 5 ccj agianst them. They charge customers £100 + vat for a wasp nest (we charge £50), they take the money then get a sub contractor to do the work & then not pay the sub contractor. Crooks. I wish some thing could be done.

Well, yesterday was a good day. LOM called me for a call out, I agreed and waited for their confirmation email. Once I had the client contact number, I rang it, explained the situation with this outfit and put her on to the electrical safety register (I was unavailable at the time, she did offer to deal with me directly). She thanked me for saving her paying over the odds and I hope someone on the list was able to help her. LOM called me up today and asked if everything went ok, so I gave them the news that I hadn't attended and my reason why, they informed me they'd check with accounts. I'm not expecting to get paid for the work I did for them before, but at least I stopped them taking money yesterday. If anybody fancies popping in to their offices, not heavy handed, just a mass visitation, i'm up for it later in the year?

Surprise surprise got paid by them today. Only taken 6 months. Numerous calls to 'sue' In the end i just sent a copy of the small claims form filled out. Will have to see if the cheque bounces...

Hi Guys Unfortunately they are still at it. I have done a few jobs and got paid but then they have done the dirty on us. Poor 92 year gentelman no electricity on a friday night emergancy call out .......you know the one hearts strings a tugging, spent 2 hours there getting everything sorted for him. They charged him a fortune!.....never paid me despite numerous attempts and LOADS of excuses. one more job also not paid from them. fed up with there crap now nearly six months. taken them to court!! DONT WORK FOR THEM !

Well i'll be a dutchman's uncle, I have received a cheque for the work I did all those months ago. This is very odd, because i'm certain the email I had from their accounts person, Sue, a couple of months back, told me they were paying me in the next BACS run. I'm expecting the cheque to bounce, but i'm amazed they sent it given the length of time etc. I'll keep you posted. (even if the cheque does clear, i'm still not working for them again, just to clear that up).

Don't rejoice until the cheque has cleared. At least by issuing a cheque, even if it bounces they've effectively admitted the debt so it should be easier to seek a legal remedy through the courts should you decide to go that route.

I did a job for these guys last year and didnt get paid. They have since phoned me on 3 seperate ocations asking me to do more work for them! Needless to say i told them where to go on each occation but they havnt taken the hint yet! I just hope nobody else gets done by them.

12 months later they are still asking me to attend call outs!
No pay, no way, never, even if they pay me, and give me £2k compensation for messing me about!

Take the hint, get lost!!!

Idiots!

but did the cheque clear? that's the important piece of info missing.

I did a job for them a couple of weeks ago. Just sent invoice and was looking for an address to put on invoice Searched name and got load of sites with traders not receiving payment - link to this thread came up to. I will update if I get paid (or not). Probably no address exists - just phones and a PO Box address.

I have just been on the phone to Kirsty ,Sue and Richard we've had an abrupt conversation about a cheque that hasn't arrived .They to need to have permission from their manager to process anything .I was told they pay after thirty days because so that they can process all the information and have it sorted out on time :/ .my wife saw this coming but I didn't .When are you guys planning the mass visitation count me in please .I will personally hire a bus and pick everyone up !!

I do not recommended this organisation to any traders who provide the service for them as they are a shamble, in all means they charge the customers and they don't pay the trader after finishing the job. scammer scammer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi mate I've never heard of them and worked around Essex for 15+ years they sound like a call handling FM company which will use all different contractors and knock them all I'd steer clear if I were you.

Hilarious! They told me they'd tell me when that was going to be aired, but never mind. I hope any of you who are still waiting for money from these guys feels a little happier knowing a small guy struck back.

I have a feeling the team may close this thread, I hope they do not, this guy stinks and the whole www of electricians need to know it, a complete country ban from any sparks working for this idiot needs to happen, appalling, nothing worse than making someone graft then taking their money.

All the information I have posted links to is freely accessible from reputable sources: Radio 4, Mirror and, one supposes, O'Mahoneys own entry to Linked in.

Mirror - I don't think it has anything to do with the Daily Mirror.

I had a call this morning from 01702330177. I rejected the call as I recognised the code as Leigh-on-Sea and assumed it was LOM. The caller left a message claiming to be from "ERG", and asking me to do "electrical testing" for them. Looking them up the closest I can find is Erg Maintenance Ltd, based 6 doors from Lawrence O'Mahony's "Registered Address" according to LAURENCE PATRICK O'MAHONY director information. Free director information. . I don't have any evidence the two are connected but you can draw your own conclusions. LOM still owe me £85 from January.

I did some work for ERG (Emergency Response Group) in November 2014 - and am still chasing payment. They just give you the run-around. Their phone number is 01702330177. "Head office" is stated as 524A London Road, Westcliff-on-Sea, Esses, SS0 9HS. The VAT reg number they gave me is for ERG Maintenance Ltd, Sole director Ms Tara Zoe Sexton. The VAT number is registered a few doors up at 539-541 London Road, but Companies house has a different address (probably an accountancy firm with 100's of other companies also registered there). Having read other posts here I have a bad feeling about this...

Further to my last post, ERG have just paid me! (after I shouted at them...). This was at 73 days after the invoice date. They chose to ignore the additional late payment interest and admin penalties.
I won't be accepting any more jobs from them.

I did some work for ERG (Emergency Response Group) a couple of months ago. I was suspicious and posted to a gas engineer's forum I belong to, but unfortunately didn't see the replies until after I'd done the work.

As I feared I wasn't going to get paid, I chased them up as soon as their 29 day payment terms were up. I phoned and emailed them many times and was always given polite replies that I would be paid that there was not problem. I mailed them telling them I was going to issue a Small Claims action if I wasn't paid with 7 days. Again they promised to pay. Actually, their accounts office who you can't speak to on the phone, they only take email, said they would forward my email to their director to ensure urgent payment.

I issued a Small Claims action 9 days ago and got a cheque today. I'm guessing they operate a business model of not paying people until they get a summons, biting the bullet for the additional cost because the majority of people that don't bother for a small some (my invoice was for £93 they paid £158 including my court fee of £25 and £40 that regulations say you can charge for non payment recovery costs). Nasty.

Hopefully this thread will stop people getting burned, but if you find it after the event as I did, do take the effort to take them to court (it's not hard, took me about 30 mins online through the government website https://www.gov.uk/make-money-claim-online) and try and let's try to stop this happening.

Hi all

I was owed £500 by this company upto 1 hour ago.
After reading this post I called them up and told lewis to tell tara that unless I have my money by the morning I will be at their door at 9am with the police and trading standards.

Within 2 minuets of hanging up the phone they paid me!

Worth a try for anyone else owed money by erg or lom

Just had a call from this number and something popped in my mind.
After looking here I found this thread and called them up to cancel the call saying I have heard about them and declined the work.

Call 01702330177 time 12.23

cheers

I'm reliably informed a similar type of company to steer clear of is NPE MAINTENANCE
Same business model even down to the (not customer details) business details/model Baldy has posted

It sounds like they're all getting tarred with the same brush. Could this not be a legitimate business model with just one or two rogue operators?

Hi
Thought I must add to this thread. I own a glass company in Birmingham. We carry out emergencies and are well known around the country with some of the bigger companies who pass us emergency work. Out of the blue we got a call from ERG and were promised payment for a small job within 7 days. We did the job and after chasing got paid. However whilst on holiday this year (August) they passed us three jobs total sum approx £630.00
We did the jobs but had to chase and chase for a response. They have no direct line to their accounts department? and every time we questioned by email we were told that the director would be approached for payment.
Eventually in December we issued a Money on line claim. They paid the day they received the court order.
Unfortunately this is not how we and the majority of good business's trade.
Would advise all traders to avoid this company unless they can make an immediate bank or credit card payment to your account.
