Hi all
99% of all jobs i do require main bonding upgrade or have no bonding to the services at all !!! i am losing so many jobs because of the price to do the bonding and why is it i have recently looked at two new jobs completed in the last 18 months that have no bonding at all even though a new ccu has been put in !!! what do you boys/girls charge to bond up gas and water services of say a 10mt run for each service run external or through the house

Rich:confused:

Part p is to blame for this sort of thing

You always had if "it works it must be ok" cowboys and no brainers
Unfortunately they continue on their merry way, whilst we adhere to costly poorly thought out government interference

Try to survive without giving too much anger to these situations and have a clear conscience that whilst you may have become more expensive than these chancers, hopefully their days are numbered

well i got a call out to a out side light not working and noticed new dual board had a sneaky look at water and gas services and no bonding!!!! I went to quote to fit a fused spur to supply two new socket outlets had a look at the board and yet again no bonding and they also had a new board in less than 5 years ago so whats going on !!!

des 56 with the expense of napit and all my insurances its really hard !!

Ahh the elusive part p strikes again he must be very busy and obviously has no time to do main bonding etc.

who used to regulate domestic installs before part p came on the scene ?

Surely if you come across these scenarios you should be trying to pry the details of the installer from the customer and report it.

I personally believe yes Part P is a bit of a ball ache to start off with but in the long run it will benefit all electricians cos if the gouverning bodies get there act together it will become like gas safe and don't forget you still get cowboy gas men

If not the only way cowboys will be stopped is through an investigation if theres a major fault and someone gets killed.:)

That is similar to what I see. I always quote for what they ask for and then an extra for the bonding that is required and state that I wont do the job without the bonding as it is not safe AND does not meet the requirements. At least they can see what the others are not including that way.

As above if its not right boys and girls, its your duty to inform the customer its not right and its there discression if they have the works done or not, if not make a note of the fact on the relevant certificate
