Only in Barnsley, aren't the council fantastic.
Saw this a couple of days ago and just had to get a shot.
Credit to the guy who did it, I don't think anyone could get it closer if they tried.

Look at this for a quality job I come across, now the property has been pir'd eicr,d for the last 20 years because the customers insurance company requires it as it's thatched. The chap who owns the place has all of them. Yet not one picked up on this as being remotely wrong. I can't believe that it hadn't been commented on as the chap said it's been like that since he moved in 30 years ago!

Funniest thing is that brown and blue t&e wasn't about 30 years ago and nor was that particular type b mcb so how did that sneak in there with no test certificate!

Posted this in another tread but this mess along with other equally appalling install work was left by a scheme member in a property I was working at recently (the board with the meter on is the left hand piece of the DNOs board where the cut outs are located. Yes the neutral is hanging off the board, the main earth is only 10mm2 and the supply cable is being crushed by an earth clamp, none of the tails are supported, the tails to the CU is routed through a gauntlet of rusty nails, not only are there damaged cables as a result of pulling them in orgianlly this was all done in the last 5 years. This modest 4 bedroom semi

now has 5 socket circuits and 4 lighting circuits and the list goes on and on. Needless to say it resulted in unsatisfactory… I wonder why…

Yesterdays finds whilst renewing GU10's for LED fittings and renewing smoke alarms. Nearly all the GU10 fittings had thermal damage and most were distorted/buckled.

At least they had a go.

How crap does that look!

Those adapted blank plates on the lower picture are not fixed, the screws just rest into the hole.

Rerouted a cable that was coming through this customers front door frame and put it through the wall as he was having all his windows and doors changed.

Opened up the CU to find this beautiful piece of work. Note that MCB is sitting higher than the rest, so the installer cut a notch out the face plate in the cover to accommodate.

No idea why:

15A fusewire.

It was probably nuisance tripping, adding the wire will up the rating of the fuse and share any inrush currents... done this loads of times  (sarcasm alert for non electricians :) )

shocking. should have had some red tape on it.

It's ok, the wire is hidden when the cover is in place. Though someone has written on the circuit label that a fuse wire has been fitted in way 1...
