We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

Yes. It should be online now. YouTube and Spotify have it. Not as bad as a thought it was going to be. Reminds me of “Last Friday Night” by Katy Perry….. Not so much the tune, but the subject of the lyrics.

Just listened.

We don't seem to be going for a win then!?

You heard which ones have the best odds now more have come out?

I’ve not even mentioned Italy (the winner of their national selection pulled out, so their second place is going) or Iceland in their silver coats

Estonia’s Tommy Cash with his “Espresso Machiato” song is the comedy entry this year,

Odds are still on Sweden who don’t decide on their entry until tomorrow…. But finger crossed it’s the 4 girls of Dolly Style…. (That’s dolly… not doggy) whose country/ pop/ dance song has got Eurovision written all over it.

Last ice skating day of the season and it was competition day!
Weeks of planning, teaching, getting the kids to stand properly in preparation for this more formal day…..

And the ice plant broke down last night.

Everything was delayed for over an hour as the rink had to be drained of an inch of water and re scraped with the Zamboni.

The performance programs from the senior age groups were up first, but the still wet ice caused a few issues where a knee slide would go a little further than expected and the kid would end up crashing into the side wall.

As everything was running late, the practice part of the ice was much more congested than it should and one kid from the group I teach took a tumble, twisted her leg, had to be carried off and ended up in the hospital.

At least I’ve got my Sundays back for the next 6 months.

It's been a quiet morning. Walked the dog then went to Screwfix to pick up my free lap dry lining back boxes. Off to Sainsburies to get dog food then home and pack my case. Will be driving up to Chester this afternoon ready for a 7am start tomorrow.

There's a guy dressed in black holding a scythe following me around today. The last few days I've been feeling like I was coming down with a cold. This morning I've got 'man flu'. I'm off back to bed.
On a tangent, a friend of mine was rushed into hospital yesterday. He had put a dozed small plastic horses up his bum. He's in a stable condition.

I spent the first half of today dieing in bed (manflu) then 4 hours driving to Chester for work tomorrow. It is very quiet on here today.

I think I’ve got that man flu thing too. Every time I tip forward, my nose is streaming… and I don’t mean it’s playing music over the internet!

Had to wipe the phone screen twice now typing this.

Want to get the grass cut, but might have to take a day off work to find time. Busy weekend coming up.

Will start getting messages from accountant soon about end of year… so I better start looking at that too.

Sometimes I hate being self employed.

Well, you didn't catch it off me. Haven't been to Scotland for a while but that'll change on Sunday. Up to Glenrothes for a weeks work at Markinch power station.

Did a little board change yesterday. Customer had a smart meter put in, so I’d asked if there was an isolator. No, so they came back and fitted one.

The old board was ancient. Fuse carriers replaced with the push button mcbs… some had lost the little off button. Split board, as there had been a separate feed for water heater at some point.

House had pumped in cavity wall insulation… which had found its way into the board from the hole between the CU and the external meter box. This was about 4” deep in compacted white insulation at the bottom.

Note the main tails coming in at the top right to feed the upper row, and also the much smaller tails bottom left feeding a single 30A breaker. With a further unused mainswitch with 15A

I changed this to a Proteus all RCBO board. Yes, Proteus… not the best on the market, but I had seen they’ve changed a lot of the design, so wanted to give it a try. I’ll review the board on a different thread.

This next photo shows the meter side, with the new isolator. Connector blocks sealed up for some unknown reason.
You can see the smaller live tail going into the block…. But I am holding the corresponding neutral….
That single mcb would never have worked. Customer did say at the beginning that they didn’t use it… luckily.

Meter monkeys. 🙈🙉🙊

Well, last full day in Scotland today. Tomorrow is just a drive back home. The weather has been stunning up here. I had to ask someone to check I'm actually in Scotland.

Thats not sun..... someone just forgot to turn the big light off

I thought I was mistaken but today we finished early so went to Dysart 'beach' near Kirkcaldy and I was walking around in a T Shirt (and trousers!). If this is global warming I'm all for it :)

The weather here has been outstanding for the last few days.
I've had 4 days off, after the madness that is the run up to the tourist season starting, my first in weeks if not months.
Drove to my nearest scrappy yesterday, 3 hrs each way, absolutely stunning drive in this weather.
Weighed in just over 300kg of scrap cable that has been cluttering up my container.
Today I walked the dog for a couple of hours, looked at the pile of paperwork I had to do...... decided to play a game for a couple of hours.
Went to a call out where someone had cut some cables lifting a floorboard..... 6 quickwire connectors and a couple of metres of T&E later took the dog out into the forestry for another couple of hours.
Now browsing the forum and typing inane replies. :D

Been staying at the Premier at Glenrothes. Seen a few people walking past in shorts. It really has been that hot.

This mornings breakfast was an Empire Biscuit. Might have a pineapple tart for dessert. I really wish I could get both of those down here. I have to buy loads whenever I go to Scottyland.

Oh, I hate you :p
Still got 1 pack of Empire Biscuits, 3 raspberry tarts and 3 pineapple tarts. That should last me until Friday.

Today is a nice day. On my second round of washing. First lot out drying. Got to drop the boy off at the dentist then a bit of shopping. I'm off to Somerset this afternoon for a week away so hopefully the weather will be okay as I've got a lot of painting to do on the chalet.

Good Friday, who’s working, who’s off?

I’m working, but just looking at jobs rather than doing them.
A little bit of rain, so that puts off me cutting the grass later.

Stupid conversation of the day:

My wife phone when I was out this morning and asked me to pick up a tray of eggs from the local farm on my way home….. then instantly asked if theyde be open today…..

Who? The chickens? I’m sure they don’t get a bank holiday…

Good evening, rather than good morning.

At A&E with the youngest. She was at an open day at Aberdeen uni, and went over on her ankle going down some stairs. That was about 12 hours ago.
She got through the day, and a train journey home, and now we’ve seen it…. Ouch.

Been here since 8:30pm.

She had high school graduation tomorrow, then exam leave, had to cancel a driving lesson on Friday…. And her test is booked for about 3 weeks time.

Was seen just after I sent that message.
It’s badly sprained… so no break, no boot… just rest.
She can’t go to graduation…. Which she’s devastated about.
Driving is out…. So we might need to cancel her test.

I wouldn't. 3 weeks time she'll be running around again. Kids bounce back from these things quickly. It's only old farts like me that take forever.

I'm still down at our place in Somerset. It's a bit cold and dull here today and our only entertainment is watching a pole dancing squirrel.

We’re going to give it a week before we decide on the test.

She’s quite bendy this one. Childhood highland dancing and gymnastics… and she goes and falls down standing still.

She’s also got her exams coming up, plus her last ever school theatre show…. Which includes her singing and dancing. Skipping rehearsals for that today.

Eldest daughter contacted me from S. Korea this morning…. Was she asking how I was? Was she enquiring about something technical?? Was she heck…..

“Dad….. do all the Spider-Man’s have the same birthday?”

Eh… what?

Back from my week off. Nice little commute from home to West Burton power station this morning. Currently stopped off in our stores to pick up parts. Should get to work some time after 11. I think it's time to retire!

That's my youngest son, the one several years younger than my two daughters, that we ended up with after an infamous barbecue in Brittany, where the vin rouge flowed freely.
