Open office , replacing fluros with led fittings, all have pull switches next to fitting & controlled by remote switch.
Pull switches look real naff, obviously there for local control @ desk.
Any ideas on better control system, problem is the individual control required needed too.

problem is the individual control required needed too : must it be mechanically activated by hand or can it be sensed?

Local control: Does the control need to be at the fitting/desk or could it be at some convenient nearby point to the fitting/desk?

It is what in systems engineering we used to call 'the irreducible minimum user (by whom, how, why, what, where, when, how well, in this/these environment(s) with these conditions and rules) requirements'....from which one then develops the system requirements and thence to the design implementation.

It’s a full open plan office, desks are very close to each other, so sensor could be activated by the next desk.
They need light on @ day as well, always one complaining either On or off, it’s a difficult one, & not actually found an answer to.

So is overhead lighting the right complete solution? What about on/at desk task lighting with the overhead providing pleasant and safe ambient lighting for the time of day/year?

Does the overhead lighting need to shine downwards or could you have their light reflected off the ceiling to produce a more diffuse effect?

Smart switch style relay built into each fitting.
Battery Remote control on desk, controls paired light above and one remote paired with all to bring them all on at once if required.

Possible, but there may be limits on how many channels can be used in one system

will put this option, cost may null that idea, also these office workers are so untidy.

My view on this is to take away all individual control, it's not necessary and is more likely to cause annoyance to adjacent desk users.
The lighting should be designed correctly for the area not just replacing one flu fitting with an equivalent LED.

Re complaints, you only need 1 person in an office to get complaints, an office with multiple people will always have complaints about lighting, heating, draughts, comfort of chairs, desks noise etc.

It was designed some years back, & like for like now being installed.
Sounds a good idea to get rid of any control , but these pull switches are staying & agree a smarter approach would of been better... gaffers know best.
Personally interested if any better control exists, other than app controlled.
