I am installing a ceiling fan in room with two switches and four recessed lights. Prior to installing the ceiling fan, the left switch controlled the recessed lights and the right switch was unknown. After installing the fan and light, I discovered that the right switch controls the ceiling fan, which is good, but only while the left switch is on. I would like to have the ceiling fan turn on and off independently of the recessed lights. How can I do this? Out of the ceiling fan box there are only three wires, white, black, and copper.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you show some clear pictures of the wiring at the switch and the fan.
