went to a block of flats to be met by the Landlord who tells me that he wants to stop a particular tenant using free electricity...!

EH! ok rewind a minute! any way after showing me the problem i understand what he is on about!

basically, the tenant is effectively STEALING power from the landlords supply in the corridor! he had a shabby ext cable drabbed across the hall way to a single socket outlet where he "tapped in" (i though this was genius!)

quick fix later..! all 4 sockets in comunal area removed and blanked off, RCD Switch and 20a MCB and bus bar removed from CU..!

blanks inserted and jobs a good un!! well because i felt nice i also inspected the chaps Extension that was pertruding from the door..! L-N pins Unsheathed and the inner strands were showing out of the insulation on the live cable!!

1x Snips and 6 Meters of cable was chopped off back to his door frame!! WHOOPS!

any way 2 hours labour and i clicked a RCD and 20A Mcb to sell on ebay!

i had one a little similar but it was "The Landlord" stealing from the tenants property. they used to live in the house before they rented it out. they drilled through the house next door into the cellar and tapped into the ring with a jb. lets just say the tenant was less than happy when we told him why his lecky bills had been so expensive since they moved in

I had one geezer who was the landlord and lived in the top flat, and a young couple rented the bottom flat off him. The whole house was pretty bloody shabby with bodges everywhere, but the guy seemed like a nice guy... the only thing that puzzled me was why a lot of stuff was ran off entensions to a s/o in the hall.

Anyway, I isolated his supply, went about my business and commenced my earth continuity testing on the ring... all fine until I get to this hall s/o and POP goes the tester. Brilliant! 3 week repair turnaround and no more worky-worky for me.

So I tell the guy it's live and is on the young couple's supply, and he acts all suprised (yea OK, why was everything in your flat running off it then?), and then asks me not to tell them and that he will get me back in a few weeks to put it right, when he has the money.

He never got back to me, so I sent them a letter explaining the situation. Not such a nice guy after all.
