LAP Screwless Accesories

Guys,

Have been asked to replace all light switches, socket fronts etc with metal ones in a house
The guy has bought loads of LAP screwless ones.
Has anyone ever used or encountered them just looking for quick review before I open them all to find they are cheap a nasty ????

watch out that you don't need to fit deeper back boxes.

I think they are 25mm from first glance, are they a little chunky then?

Well they're flat, so add anoth 10mm or so onto the depth, 25mm back boxes with flat plates ain't gonna be fun!

You will probably (read definitely) struggle with 25mm boxes.
Also, if your walls are not perfectly flat and smooth, forget it. They will look wrong at best, and at worst the clip on front plate will pop off if you so much as look at it.

LAP stuff ain't great but for the price it is good value. If walls are good and backboxes deep enough they will be fine

Make sure he takes his gold chain off first, it'll be a nightmare getting all the dried plaster out of it.

As above, plus make sure you make it clear that you won't put any guarantee on anything the customer has supplied, and any issues you have will incur additional cost.

Ive used them a few times, boxes need to be 35mm , all metal boxes need to be set back about 5mm in plaster , spurs require top and bottom box lugs to be bent back or removed, set your boxes square, as the lip at rear of fitting does not allow for adjustment once its in the box, which is another reason to set boxes back about 5mm. Do not over tighten as front plate will not clip on . Ensure wall is flat around box as plates will not clip on correctly, do not allow painter to get paint on fitting as front plate will not clip on correctly. term screws are suspect, had a few that stripped. On the whole these fittings leave a lot to be desired.

They are absolute toot, LAP are yet another reason I don't use screwfix for anything
And the perfect example of 'you get what you pay for!'

We installed them on a whole house

The front plates are a nightmare and as said previously will pop off or not fit properly if the box and wall are not perfect

If the back box ain't straight then the socket won't be either

The socket is made from cheap bendy plastic

Mark your Job up a bit

Ok guys I've had a word he can get refund so I can buy my own stuff let him see the screws or pay double he needs to decide,
