I was just going to install a well known brand of smart accessories when I find the switches do not have a neutral connection.I spoke to the manufacturer and they seem happy to trickle ~4mA per single gang switch and > 10mA for the 4 gang in standby mode down the cpc. 543.7.1 (high protective conductor currents) Any alternatives, suggestions, better brands?

Re: Leakage current, using the cpc in master switches for smart control products 543.

I would be more concerned if its over 10mA leakage to the required earthing arrangements change it is unlikely the existing circuits would thus comply, have you explained this or are you installing new wiring where if so as long as you comply to the requirements of circuits with High protective conductor currents.

I assume the their no N connection so these can be retro fitted to existing switches and here lies the problem.

Have you a brand and product code so we can have a browse at the proposed system?

I don't work to the UK regs so I'm not sure what they say. Personally I wouldn't have a problem with a small current on the CPC, it is a functional as well as protective part of a circuit and most modern day switch mode supplies like battery chargers and PC power supplies have standing leakage from the surge arresters etc.

I would be tempted to put the lighting circuit on its own 30mA RCBO if you go ahead with the installation.

Thanks Darkwood and Marvo

These products are available for the public to purchase and fit themselves. You could fit two switches and remain compliant providing there were no other trickling contributors to the cpc. But you couldn't retro fit three, or the four gang switch at all.

Perhaps I am paranoid, but I dislike any accessories that use the cpc unnecessarily.

Not going to trash the brand, I just wondered what everyone installs with an ethernet conection and wan control?

What make are these accessories?

Surely telling us the facts isn't 'trashing the brand'?
