Can I just ask is it 1 of the switches a 2 way and one of the switches a 1 way as that is what it looks like to me

As it looks like you got 1 3 core and CPC and 1 twin and CPC and if that is split between 2 switches then I'm assuming they control different lights

OK then pal well make sure u isolate the circuit first then put the live(red) of the twin and CPC in the common of one of the switches and the switch live(black) into L1 of the same switch but identify it as live with sleeving or tape then for the two was go to the other 2 way switch (the one that is still on and see where the 3 core wires have been put in that switch and copy them in switch you putting on but not in the same side as the twin and CPC one

Sorry :s

I would look behind the other 2 way switch and see which wires go into the L1 and L2 and then put the same colours in the L1 and L2 on the new switch and the other in the common. On the other one the red and black can go in any terminal either common or L1, really you should take power to the common but I don't think it makes any difference.

here is a basic drawing mate really rough aswell haha i have just guessed which terminals the 3 core go into but either way just make sure they are in the same on each switch

just make sure its not live before you start mate

Hey man, I just checked and the switch I'm working on goes straight to the spotlights so I have no other switch to reference to. It's a confusing one, I wire it up but in many different combinations but same thing happens all the time, the lights come on but when I turn the switch off it trips the CB, just for the spotlights, never with outside light... Hmm!

It is possible the blue and the black could be neutrals and need to be joined in a wago (connector) and then there are 3 wires left, one will be a feed, probably a red in the 3 core, the other 2 switch wires, red from twin to the outside light and the other(yellow) for the kitchen lights, I'm not there so just clutching at straws, Just guessing

If you have no other switch then it is not a two way mate are u sure there is no other.

If it trips the cb and not RCD then it is creating a short circuit when u switch it off mate many one of the 3 core and CPC is a neutral for the out side light.

When u wire it up so it comes on does the outside light come on as well as if not then the 3 core has a neutral as one of the cores probily the blue one.

I'll do another drawing and try that

Alright I just had a look, the kitchen lights come on but the outside lights don't come on at all, so I take it I'll need to connect the blue and black as neutrals for the outside light?
