Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new NICEIC online certification. I have done a couple of DEI's now and I find it very frustrating and more time consuming. I got the wrong property address on a form and had to issue a complete new certificate also. I don't think I will be using it again.

So am I right in thinking that to use it you need a good connection to the internet? If so its no good for me as the mobile coverage on my patch varies from non existent to sort of OK.

I had a go at a test cert for my own address and kept receiving errors. After 20 mins I just gave up. If you pay the monthly invoices monthly and not by DD, it accepts this. Stick to software if you have it.

I have been using this for a few weeks now and have issued probably 15 or 20 EIC's and about the same in minor works. There were a couple of teaching issues when I first used it, but it's been perfect ever since and think its great. If you ring the online support number, they are very helpful as its the developers you speak to.

I think once you get the hang of it, it's very easy to use and produces very professional certificates. Ill never be using a handwritten cert again.

What I d when I go on a job, I just hand write the details into a blank form. If its a big job like a new install or replacement board, I create the cert online first and the circuits, the fill it in by hand onside, then type it up at home.

If you want my opinion, don't kick it in yet, give it another go. It's free too, so it's not like it costs anything!

There's a £1.50 fee per cert plus £1.50 per notification.

I have started to use it, I noticed though when you do a certificate and notification if you choose more than one reason for notification (say; work having a new circuit, plus work in a special location) then it charged you twice to notify. whereas through the brcs website you can choose as many options as you want for just the one fee. is this right or just something i did?

Dear do at £1 a cert I only pay £40 a year for easycert and can fill them in on computer with no Internet access and send them when I get home

Hmm, NAPIT do an editable .pdf for all of the forms, download it, edit it, print it out. No cost at all apart from the printing and paper, and no need to do it online.

Maybe you people with NICEIC should be getting on to them to do something similar?

I like Easycert too as you can fill the certificate in at the location (I have a small cheap laptop for work) and then print or email when home. Avoids duplication of work - hand writing then typing up and you don't have to be online to use the system.

i use the niceic software from click and the certs cost about 38p. much better than the £1.00 this system charges
the problem i have with the new NICEIC online certification is the building control notification
if you make a mistake, there is no way to edit it!
you then have to fill in another form at a cost of £3.00!!!
the new system is also a lot slower than the old BRCS system.
if it isnt broken, dont try to fix it!
