Hopefully in Video and Pics I explain it better than here! I have a dilemma in my old house that I thought was a Simple Switch Loop but I have two hot wires in the ceiling receptacle and one hot in hallway light box!
Here is my YouTube video, I have had a couple strokes and three heart attacks so I hopefully explain it!
Pic attached as well, hopefully everything is permitted !

you can't rely on a voltstick. it can indiate power on a wire through pick-up from adjacent wiring. you need to use a 2 probe voltage indicator to be sure of which is live and which is not.
