one load to get power from 2 sources

Hi All,
Does anyone know any special device, which allows to supply equally power from 2 sources to one load? Two houses connected to one sewage septic tank, where air pump has to be connected to mains. Because of two houses have to share it, I need to find something which would equally spread this load between 2 houses supplies. I can use 2 timers, but may be somebody knows about any special device for this purpose ?

Still half asleep, but the first thing that popped into my head is a single 7 day timer and a changeover switch!! To switch between house supplies every 24 hours. I might change my my after my second cup of coffee though!! lol!!

Hi,is it UK? Is the system private treaty,easement or some other agreed method? Is it agitation or ventilation? Not knowing these things will affect set up and notifacation labels etc.Because everybody needs to poo...doubling up using using two pumps and seperate supplies would be wise and you would need to know information regarding BOTH supplies to label correctly.

Put a sub meter in to monitor consumption of the shared utility. Once a month money changes hands, it's much simpler and gets rid of the risk of a time switch or something energising it while it's being worked on.

Yeah, I'd agree with Trev, find a way of supplying it from one house or the other otherwise there's lots of potential complications and unnecessary extra cost involved. A few that spring to mind are how are you going to ensure each supply is utilised equally, also are the supplies from the same phase off the DNO Tx? To be honest the consumption may be so low it's not even worth metering.

What happened to the days when neighbours could work something out involving a bottle of Scotch at Christmas and a handshake?

For the actual amount of energy use in question, I'd say it's really not worth the bother! By the time they've shelled out for whatever the bits end up being, plus your time, plus servicing and renewal in five years time....it's a completely disproportional cost to what will probably at most be a fiver a year!

1 x lift pump = let's say 500W (and probably half that again), does ten lifts a day for around 5 secs each (again, if that).

You do the maths at 14p/kwh - less than the aforementioned Scotch!

As has been suggested, a single supply fed via a sub meter. It saves the complication of changeover switching.
I take it this isn’t in the UK.

The first thing I thought was the supplies are probably on different phases.
Who installed this tank? Have they ever installed one before and what did they do in that situation?
I would suggest either one house provides the supply and the other house pay either an agreed amount every year or install a dedicated meter to see exactly how much electricity is being used (not cost effective), or if they can't agree on that each house get their own tank.

Or give it it's own supply with a solar panel, inverter and battery.

Fit a key token meter, taken off one of the supplies and before that property's own meter, which both parties can equally top up at the beginning of each month (or whenever).

Sorry for the later reply. Yes, it's in the UK. House building company bought plot and and build there 2 semi-detached houses. So, all work including sewage has been done by this company. If houses are both connected to the same phase on not, I don't know. Sewage system as far as I know only requires constant air pump on , which is installed separately near by main sewage tank.
I still prefer to switch load between 2 supplies, as some neighbours can not talk/agree to each other ;-( and if one house supply is completely switched off for some reason ( nobody leaves there, went on long holidays and so on) sewage air pump would be still alive (50% time of cause).
Does anybody know where I can find changeover switch, which can be controlled by timer?

You can just use any timer with two small contactors and interlock them. Put them in an enclosure by the pump but I'd label it up well to inform anyone who works on it in future that there's multiple supplies in there.
