Hello all, I’ve several questions to ask.

Currently carrying out a PIR on a commercial premise and have made the following observation which I am not sure about:

1. Fans have been wired into the lighting circuits, sometimes with a switched fuse unit and sometimes without. Is this arrangement no different to a fanlight in which case presumably no problems or should the fans have their own circuit. Any applicable code?
2. There seems to be a number of disused electrical accessories. I am not sure if these have been isolated or a 3036 fuse has blown somewhere (nearly all the boards contain rewirable fuses) which I haven’t been able to find. Could this give rise to danger, any code?
3. I’ve noticed few lighting points with no lamps in them, some of which are wall lights directly above coat hangers on the wall where someone could potentially stick their finger in one. Again, is this coded?
4. Some of the lighting points have been given their own pullcord switches but done in such a way that the switchlive is exposed with only insulation and no mechanical protection. Code?
5. There are several borrowed neutrals and even a borrowed live (if I can call it that). Code?
6. A lighting circuit with all plastic fittings with cpcs snipped off. Any code?

There are three buildings with three service intakes; 8 DBs in one, 3 DBs in each of the other. All are three phase.

(I tried to include pictures but can't seem to get them to appear here!)

Your input is much appreciated.

did you pass your 2391?

Sparking for over 10 years, 2391 in a couple of weeks! I've 2330 L2&3, 17th Ed and all insurances in place, took this on as client is known to me and it will also help better prepare me for the upcoming exams.

Fans are ok. Fittings with no lamps are unlikely to need a code.platic fittings don't need a cpc.

Unused accessories are also unlikely to need a code. As long as there is no damage to them etc....no exposed wires. They are either in use or not.

4. Is code 4. Reg 522.10.1 non sheathed cables should be enclosed in conduit, ducting or trunking unlessits a protective conductor complying with 543

Thanks again, I think you meant 521.10 above. Trouble is, the cable is exposed for anyone to make contact with with the cable only having insulation and no sheath. I believe the above is applicable if the cables are in an approved containment system: "conduit, ducting or trunking" and also provides "the degree of protection IP4X or IPXXD, or if the cover can only be removed by means of a tool or a deliberate action" [521.10]. Any comments? I'll try and get some pictures up here in the meantime.

Yeh 521.10.1 I'm on my phone so keyboard is poor. It's code 4 mate doesn't comply with bs7671
