I have a 6mm SWA to join underground which is feeding a selection of street lighting.

One of the street lamps is being removed so I need to join out the SWA, I've brought a straight joint resin joint, have I made a mistake with this joint kit? I'm thinking now how I'm going to straighten the 2 ends of the armoured cable out to be able to join without a huge whole being dug out allowing me to level the armoured out and join correctly..

What would you have done?

If the cables are too long and/or facing the wrong direction, cut the two cables or maybe one of the cables to size and dress them to the orientation that suits your thru joint.

There is always more than one way to skin a cat to get the cables in the right position, so to speak!!!

Yep, you may need to dig more out to get enough slack to perform the joint.

Oh, and good luck with the joint kit, especially if its your first time.

They are a royal PITA, even with plenty of practice.

:biggrin5:

Just a word of warning, wear disposable gloves when handling the resin. Not good for the skin! It’s always p**ses me off after I’ve done a neat joint and I have to bury it.
You could always fit a couple of waterproof spot lights in the hole off the joint and place a toughened glass cover over the hole. That way people can admire a job well done. ;)
