Hi,
Basically one of my mates has bought a mobile snack van to set up, and there is no electrical supply or wiring in it .. everything is gas in it. He's basically wanting a supply in it for a few sockets (fridges and cash register) and a flourescent light. He's going to buy a generator for a supply but to be honest i've never really dealt with generators etc before. Im just curious as to if anyone has any info for me on it eg. if i fit a 240v industrial plug on the catering unit, what type of cable would i use from that to go to the consumer unit? .... would an earth be necissary? if so.. where would you get it? if not how would you RCD protect etc?

If anyone has any opinions or help they could give me it would be greatly appreciated.

16A inlet on the exterior of the van, singles inside PVC conduit to lights/sockets via garage consumer unit, c/w the usual 30ma rcd.

6A for lights, 10A MCB for sockets (presuming it provides enough power for sockets, and gas is used for cooking!)

Although I've never seen a burger van with a 32A inlet and a large generator!

Earthing is a tricky one..... A bond to the incoming gas supply? Haven't seen one yet.....
