Why do test equipment suppliers use the xxth edition to plug their stuff

I have an old Fluke Multi predating the 14th Edition timeline, a Megger Insulation and Continuity tester equally aged, a Clare PAT tester and an AVO 8 multimeter predating the Flood and I recently had them calibration tested and they ALL passed and have calibration certificates.
I'd like to have them in my car boot when I next get a site visit from the NIC.

They do it because they understand how Google and the other search engines work, to maximise hits on their site. The same as someone selling say a Megger tester on an auction site, may put the words Fluke and Kewtech in the description, even though they are not supposed to.

You'd still have to buy the book to take the exam, and if you want online reference, provided you know roughly what you're looking for, you'll find it just as quickly on Google as on an online copy of a 550 page PDF.

More than likely won't know what the testers are.

I might copy the manufacturers and just as they put 18th edition on the box and charge a bit more. I figure I might put 18th edition qualified on my estimates and print off a shiny new van sticker to show I am the dogs Boll**Ks and have passed my 18th edition, then I too can charge a bit more.
