Your thoughts on bonding this gas pipe

Hi,

Nice easy one, I have a gas pipe, its metal, but painted, no supply to properly, its just capped, but live.

As for bonding, what would you do? Just sand some paint off and bung a clamp on it? That's my thoughts, whats yours? I know you are meant to only put it supply side, but there isn't one.

No, its just a live supply in the event that someone wants it, there's never been a meter, I should perhaps tap off it into a boiler and a gas hob, just think, nobody would ever know!

You say there is no supply to the property but the gas pipe is live?

If it's live there will be a meter so bond there obviously. If it's dead or redundant test see if its extraneous I guess.

yes its live with gas in it, just no meter.

I was just wondering what others would do as to bonding it, that was the initial question, would you just remove a bit of the paint?

No meter, no gas in the dwelling, remove some pant, why?

because its an extraneous piece of metal going into the ground which unless bonded would have a..... I don't need to explain as you know why, but It is was any other piece of metal you would, that's why I ask, theres a plug socket just next to it, metal clad, I'm just trying to cover all bases thats all.

dont you mean consumers side?

is it extranious?

prove it with IR tester...

if it offers a potential then bond it....

No need to get up yourself Glen, just saying no meter no consumers side

Test and bond if needed (99.5% sure it will)
When meter is fitted at a later date move the bond if required to satisfy you on site guide picture!
