Hi all,
I have a single switch in my garage to turn on a couple of lights in there. Yesterday I fitted a floodlight outside, drilled through garage wall and fed the cable inside and fitted a 2 gang switch so the floodlight had its own. I 'nicked' the power inside the switch via a loop from com to com to feed the floodlight but am not getting the full power to the floodlight. It's a 50w LED and I have a CU in the garage that protects the sockets and lighting. Any idea as to why it's not getting full power please. Regards

Brown connected to com along with the brown from the switch next to it to take the power from that com. Blue into L1 so as to make the switch work as it is on the other switch and the earths are all joined and connected to switch plate. I also ran an earth link to the back box as the switch is metal

There is no neutral at that switch. The brown and blue of the existing cable are both lives, live in and live out. The blue should have a brown marker on it to indicate this.

Yes I did have a brown sheath over the blue you're right. The right hand side is existing lights in the garage which are working fine and I have not changed. The black cable on left is the new floodlight cable. I will replace the brown sheath. This should then go into L1 to make switch work?

Unfortunately you don't have a Neutral at the switch position , they original installer has 3 plated at the light or you have a JB ( junction box ) somewhere in the rafters.
Its unusual these days not to have N at the switch especially in newer builds.
You are unfortunately going to have to bring a N down to the switch to make the flood light operate

I don't understand why I'm not getting enough power from the second switch as I've looped in to feed the floodlight from switch
