I need to install a floodlight for outside now its dark. Its just inside the kitchen wall to connect to the electrics. My simple idea is run a cable through a wall with a plug on the end and use a sensor LED light - is that allowed or am I breaking any rules?
An electricial has said tap into ceiling light, run trunking around the kitchen wall and ceilings, put in a fused spur which really seems a lot of work - I guess its the proper way but its ugly and very expensive.
Any feedback please on what option to go for?

It is fine what you are proposing.
