have used these before. 12V sensors wired back to a control box which has manual override and a buzzer. controller then powers your security lights @ 240V

I bought a kit from Amazon...it worked just fine. battery powered sensor signalled a plug-in chime in the house, and a PIR flood did the rest. It was £20, it's still working 5 years on.

and I have Hikvision camera which alerts me to any significant movement, and is scalable. It works fine too.
getting one with a built-in flood would indeed be a good choice
