My advice is make sure you have a good dust mask, ear defenders and goggles and thats before you start the tracking lol. The work will be pretty straight forward. You will learn to ignor the smells and moaning customers. I did. Used to do heating jobs for the council all over Northern Ireland. South Armagh is a very strange place.

it will be a good job for you till something better comes along. make sure you wash your hands before eating your sandwiches! you will meet some very nice people, and you will meet some not so nice.

well, thank yous again , he has just brought date forward and wants me to start thursday, i said il meet you there 7.30 and he said no cause it to early for him. so sounds ok already. i can ly in bed longer with my comfy son. he said we would be chasing this week, and from next week on someone else would be doing the chasing and we'd be doing the wiring....

if you were buying masonary bits, would you's go for good bosh ones, i hav loads but i think they not good quality..??

i got a good price on the dewalt ones from the wholesalers mate and they seem good mate. from what i remember about 1.50 each. keep your eye out for a deal on a set.

probably just a couple, il make do with what i have untill i bump into sum or i definatly need them.. anyway all set to go tomorrow morning. one last question if yous arnt a sleep.

when chasing walls, how deep are you allowed to chase? and is it just just a matter of using wall chaser to mark depths the kango'n out.. if so any tips??

will they not supply you masonary bits? Fair enough most jobs require you to supply hand tools but any drills etc. and especially consumables like drill bits should be supplied by the employer!
Having said that its always nice to have your own collection, I have never bought any of them though only aquired!
When chasing walls, I think you should never go more than 25% of the depth of the depth of the wall. However the chasing machine is all setup for depth etc. then you just start smashing it out. Luckily we always have chasing contractor to do all that, so I usually avoid wall clouting.
One of the best tips though, always have a lump hammer you can easily manage, too big and your wrists will ache within an hour!

Good luck with the job mate!

aye just like mmy own colection, think there is a chaser dude comming in from next week? hope so anyway. or maybe il love smashing it out.. well cheers for replying and i know you just gotta get stuck in

well can honestly say, it was dusty. when you try kango upwards, what a mess. ive done the job two days now and im setting back boxes with bond , feeding cables, and piping. seems all straight forward. oh and fitting smokes and heat detectors .

can anyone tell me why the board of the flat upstairs tripped when he cut the cables of the downstairs flat???

Could have been fed from the same supply (just metered for upstairs). MCB could have been turned off but cct not disconnected, so when the cable was cut the N-E shorted causing downstairs and upstairs RCD to trip (Upstairs maybe more sensitive??)

Just guessing !!
