Grid switches

Do all the grid frames fit any back box ? like sockets and switches ?

Sweet , and regardless of what switches i buy, will they fit the face plate thats already there ? .....im doing a job 70 miles from me tuesday, n didnt really take note of what i need :-/ ...dull me

No the switches do not fit every face plate only their own

They can be different. Went to replace some grids last week and thought i'd keep the existing box only to find it didn't fit:rolleyes2:

if its a metal backbox/pvc back box in domestic then yolk,switches and plate should fit any one

MK metal Clad range you HAVE touse the appropriate box as the box,plate have a lip and box has flate for the yolk to fit
OLD MK the ones with metal clip for fixing switch to yold are realy hard to comeby probably better fitting a new box,yolk,switch and plate Altho if you have a small salvage electricalplace they may have bits I tend to renew if less than 4 gang over 4 gang I have a few odd switches kept from strip outs as renewing 12 switch grid for 1 faulty switch cheeses me off

Nightmare to get the front cover on, if the back box is in 1mm 2 much it will take u awhile to line up with yokes

Do you mean CLICK? If so there yoke’s screw to the front plate and are a piece of pi** to fit!
MK ones don’t click in to their grid very well.
Best ones are Crabtree!

Click mini grid are a doddle to fit, doesn't matter what the position of the backbox is.

Had some crabtree ones recently and the mounting yolk had tangs either side that were to wide for the metal clad box. Are these supposed to me bent back?

Humm, did you use a crabtree metal clad back box? If not then yes bend back or snap off!
This is the problem with metal clad stuff, if you don’t use same brand through out.

It was a Crabtree box, thats what made threw me off course.

Saying that trhough, they were from screwfix so who knows????
