Hey guys im having trouble with a question in one of my assignments, it feels like such an open ended question. Heres the question:

"If you are an Electrical Supply Engineer you would be required to ensure that there was compliance with relevant regulations.

Describe the general requirements of regulations and legislation relating to the provision of electricity within buildings and discuss how you would implement these with appropriate examples, in making valid and appropriate decisions."

It feels way too open ended..... hmmm do you think by general requirements, it is talking about chapter 13 of the regs? All to do with safety and all that. Or do you think more is required!

In my course it mainly covered 17th edition and a little to do with part p, and breifly touched on all the other statutory regs. so i assume they want an answer mostly to do with BS7671..

Any ideas anyone, or better yet has anyone completed BTEC level 3 Electrical Installation A module.

cheers

It is possibly asking you about the BS 7671-2008 and GS38 which are non regulatory, as well as statutory documents outlined in appendix 2 of the Regulations, such as the EAWR-1998 and the ESQCR-2002. It also may be asking you that you realise that other BS supplement the regulations as highlighted in the regs on pg 12

As for examples out of the regs you can choose any really RCD protection, special locations the list is endless. This also for the GS 38 for test equipement leads and accessories and again outlining finger guards, fused leads etc.

Then you will give examples form the statutory documents the easiest ones to get will be the EAWR and the ESQCR, which again you can choose endless examples such as in the ESQCR non allowance of having a PEN conductor within the installation.

Maybe way off here but if anything helps ok.
