hi there, got my exam soon, but i ve missed out a lot while i was ill, could someone please explain to me, how to do these step by step? i went through OSG 100 times but I just dont get it. Could you please explain how to do these, and what would be the expected readings on a brand new installation? Btw I did look on here, but none of the threads seemed to answer my questions. So here we go:

  1. Continuity of CPC's and Bonding Conductors.
  2. Continuity of Ring final
  3. Insulation Resistance
  4. Polarity
  5. Electrode Resistance
  6. Earth fault loop impediance
  7. Prospective fault current/prospective earth fault current
  8. Functional testing including RCD's
  9. Volt drop

Someone please help me

Best bet is to post up the bits you don't understand mate one by one.

That said, I've always thought GN3 put it fairly simply

Hi there, I am new here so i don't know from where to start.
But maybe this can help you about (Functional testing including RCD's), look at point 4 and 4.3 of this document: http://www.bbc.co.uk/safety//pdf/safety-egn_3_rcds_v2-2_f.pdf
I didn't read all but looks helpful, i think so. :coolgleamA:

I purchased this book Amazon.co.uk: The City and Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification Learning Guide: A Practical Guide to Understanding the 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate Syllabus: Explore similar items from NICEIC online publications (think it's out of print now), it explains all the tests in detail and has exam questions etc in it. Very good book for Inspection & Testing. They have this one http://www.niceicdirect.com/epages/NICShop.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/NICShop/Products/2691. If you missed out on your course due to illness, can you not go back to your trainer provider and get recoursed? You will miss alot of practical advice without the personnel training.

The last link doesn't work for some reason, navigate to the NICEIC publications page. There are loads of similar publications out there.

Looking at your list of things to understand buddy, you are just not ready for your exam. GN3 is about as basic as it gets so long as you understand the basic principles of what you are doing.

I know this sounds harsh, but honesty is the best way to go here......
