hi does anyone know about the 2391-20 course for design and verification is it worth doin at some point or is it just another con by the trainin scemes to blag some more cash out of ya:cool:

its is a very good course its a follow on to the 2391 testing and its a lot of work. I opassed the theory side but have to redo my project.

The coures itself goes into great depth all desigh and maths and regs so you will get to know the regs and maths very well

I would say do it its hard work but worth it.

It a great course if you go to a good college or other training theirs a 60 hour project, including diverity loading calculation cable design on say police stations, doctor surgeries, stables detention centres, it suites and silimar type installation, the theory very detailed as well GN 1 and 3, all of BS7671 relating to design and if you possess 2391 inspection and testing you get exemption on the practical otherwise there is a practical as well.

I would recommend the course as long as you have the time to study I spent 8 to 10 a week doing project, exam type questions course lasted 20 week studied at CNWL

If anyone can do that assignment in less than 20 hours then they must be unemployed. If your unemployed and an electrician, then you must not be a very good electrician. The assignment takes TTTttttiiiimmmmeee if you want to do it properly. Seriously, the exam depends on how well you were taught. Found it lot easier than the testing exam.

Doing the exam tommorow? Its kind of hard. The questions are not bad, its just interpreting what they are asking makes it tricky. Yep, practical is pretty straight forward.

Ice man if you think the 2391-10 theory was hard you will have a BALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL at the 2391-20 its open book with 3 hours and you need every second of it hers a rough idea of what is asked.

Draw a fully labeled diagram of a HV discharge lighting circuit.
Draw a fully labeled diagram of the method of testing an earthrod
Explaing the reason for gaps in under floor heating systems.

Ther are more question but those 3 i got Its very interesting and i PASSED mucked up the project though so will resit that.

iceman the project is on paper for example an office block with 6 seperate sections in it you have to show calcfor cable size, explain choice of cable, containmen ect, show on drawing cable routes, fill in a full test cert for 1 sectuion using the cable calcs and lots more. I have scanned my old assighnment sheet in the C&G tell you the Zs and earthing system as well as building constuction

Sounds good. Don't mind the travelling, running all over Scotland for a customer at the minute. Never mind only another year till the roadworks are lifted on the A80!
