New kid on the block....well, not really.... 43 yr old re-trainee into the industry off the back of the 2357 level 3 knowledge units and a complete career change from software into electrical.

Big hello from me :)

Currently trying to line myself up with work to get the portfolio ticked off but that's proving tricky with not being on the apprentice route. So far, I've done my 2391-51, 2377-77, IPAF/PAL 3a & 3b and I've got my ECS/CSCS white card. Any hints or tips on finding employers sympathetic to those trying to complete the portfolio at my ripe age greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the asylum mate.

How's the job change going, from "turn it off and back on again..." to "red to red.... black to black.."?

Cheers! It's going - slowly but surely. Cables have far less attitude, more flexibility and an overall actual sense of purpose. Besides, I can take a pair of pliers and a heat gun to a cable ;)

As long as it's going in the right direction then all is good mate.
You will learn a lot on this forum. There are lots of very bright people. I'm not in this list though..... I'm just here for the cheesecake...

Hi Saprkygaz,

Welcome to the forum.

Would advise that you visit the NICEIC website Homepage NICEIC - https://www.niceic.com and put your own postcode into the "find a contractor" search bar. This will then give you a list of local contractors who may be willing to take you on.

Hope this helps ;)
