The MCB on the Cooker circuit could be classed as an Isolating switch, I am not 100% on this one so have kept quiet thus far, however I believe a local isolator for a socket with an appliance plugged into it is not mandatory, please speak up if I am wrong here.

Lets have a Muppet button, thats my view :D

Which one though?

HAHA, well pick me one hehe

I probably would not code it - certainly not a C2 anyway.

With talk of whether the means of isolation is mandatory - I know that if I was to install any integrated appliance in a kitchen tomorrow without ‘reasonable access’ to isolation, then I’m pretty sure my local BCO would not accept it. They are pretty keen on that round here - not even accepting a SFU in the back of an adjacent cupboard.....

That idea of ‘you can isolate at the CU’ does not seem to fly....

Funny how a lot of Pubs are wired straight from the MCBs to sockets and lights without switches and it gets certified and passed.

This was covered earlier.
You cannot "C anything" unless it contravenes a regulation in BS7671.
There is no regulation that says that ovens must have a point of isolation. There's mention of such a thing in the OSG book (written by the Brothers Grimm) but its a guide, and there's no corresponding regulation.

So, again, if someone cares to find a relavent regulation , and prove me wrong, then go ahead.

Thank you all for your views, interesting discussion as with few different opinions. I will install isolator after I've spoken to a client as means of convenience and to avoid any potential issue with BCO. I do also think it's isn't a requirement. The oven is electric which I think it's irrelevant.

Thanks

Has anyone else asked a BCO to sign the design part of an EIC after they’ve started making demands for changes to an installation?
