Hi, I've a 1 gang 1 way switch 6AX for light in the hallway, I would like to replace with a new one and I've just seen I've bought a 1 gang 1 way 10AX. Is that fine to replace with it or there are any risks?

Plus, the old switch got a L1 for red cable and COM for black cable, the new one has L1 and L, no COM at all. Does the "L" replace the "COM"?

Thanks.

The new switch has a higher current rating and is perfectly fine to use in replacement, the L is you common input.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried some search on the net, the common input is usually the red or black cable?

usually red. and the black should have a red sleeve or a bit of red tape on it. so red into L and black into L1. ( lads, this sort of a job is basic DIY, so that's why i'm advising. not many will call out a spark to swap a switch. be nice to have 10 a day of these though. )
