Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice on a smart plug and an extension lead. I want the smart plug in the wall socket the extension lead in the smart plug, reason is to use Amazon alexa to shut down the smart plug. In the extension I have the TV Sky box sky router DVD player and about 3 other things. Just want to know really would the smart plug way be safe?
Thanks for reading.

Yes its safe. just as safe as having only 1 device plugged in.
Just be sure the weight of the smart plug and the lead plugged in doesn't pull the plug out the wall over time.

Will you be turning everything off on a regular basis? Seems overkill to me just to save hunting for all the individual remotes.

I'm not 100% sure however I think you'll find you may get problems with your internet speed if you keep turning the router off. Something to do with re-syncing with the exchange i think.

I maybe wrong but I'm sure I have read this somewhere.

You maybe better of with a smart trailing socket (extension lead)

Then you can choose exactly which appliance to turn off/on.

I really want to turn them off to save money/electric, like a complete shut down at night rather then standby. I will leave the router on in a different socket as I do know that turning that of is wrong.
