Hi,

What qualifications are required to carry out the installation of a cooker and re-wiring a room in a commercial property? Is a 17th edition the bare minimum that's required or should I be asking for more? The reason I ask is I've been asked to source an electrician to carry out this work and I want to be asking for the right qualifications as part of the vetting process. Any information is a great help.

Thanks

Malcolm

competence is the key word. being able to look up answers in a book ( 17th edition exam) is a guide, but no guarantee of competence. neither is a scam badge on a van. personal recommendation is the best advice as to whether or not a spark is competent, efficient, and not a cowboy.

Employ the services of an ECA, NAPIT or NICEIC approved Contractor, preferably a small company, the service will be alot more personal and usually better, no guarantee however, but the 17th edition means absolutely diddly squat it's just an update of the regulations and my missus could pass it
